Spending time with people now raises a question in my
mind. How do we tell people we’re wearing #Dentures? Do we even need to tell
them?
Obviously, the people closest to us would know, but new people
we meet, or acquaintances and people we like but aren’t really close to.
Sometimes it feels like everyone’s staring, they probably
aren’t. Maybe it’s just me feeling insecure and self-conscious. I always feel
like I’m trying to get away with something by not saying anything, but at the same
time I want to explain why I’m talking differently, or how excited I am that I bit
into a piece of food. It feels like I have a secret but if anyone asked I’d
probably say yeah I do. But it’s not something I would raise.
Just wondering if other people tell and who do you tell. Or
does the subject not come up?
I realize it’s strange to ask a personal question on a
public forum but it’s worth considering the actions we take as we adjust to %23dentures.
I guess that’s the real question, why do we feel ashamed and/or embarrassed about
something that we needed to have done and will help us in the future.
Do we feel the need to pass them off as real teeth, pretend
nothing has happened, or do we accept the fact that they are replacements and
move on? Do we even need to feel like we’re pretending?
For me, I’ve always associated dentures and false teeth
with senior citizen, and I’m only forty. I know for the teenagers that’s old
but, wait to you get to this age kid! Maybe, if someone has a negative comment towards
us because of our dentures they’re not the kind of person we thought they were.
Maybe we need to associate dentures with health.
Change the way we think and move on.
To hell with what they say!
So on that note, hello world, I wear dentures; take it or
leave it.

Thanks for sharing.
